  • Administrative Assistant

    This position will have significant public contact including residential and business residents, along with

    interaction with City Council members. The successful candidate must be a self starter with initiative

    and creativity. This position was created from a previous position that is no longer needed, therefore

    the individual hired will have the ability to be creative and help create the future duties and its

    organizational impact. This individual will be required to interact with all departments in the city,

    including: Police, Courts, Public Works, City Manger's Office, Utilities, etc. It is contemplated that this

    will be a full-time position with generous benefits, including vacation and sick pay, holiday pay,

    retirement and health insurance benefits.

    EXPECTED PAY:$17

    DUTIES:

    Assist the City Secretary with various duties as directed, including help with City Council agenda

    meeting packets, filing and organizing the office, and helping with Council communications.

    Assist the Utility Billing Clerk with public interaction as it relates to water/sewer bills, answering phone

    calls, working with Public Works staff regarding water and sewer inquiries from the public.

    Assist Code Enforcement on paper work related to various code issues on everything from animal

    control to abatement orders for structures, junk related items, and high grass and weeds (just to name

    a few). Will need to provide periodic administrative support.

    Assist with phone coverage when other employees are on vacation, sick, or in training, as well as

    coverage on occasions during the lunch hour. Also, doing mail runs, obtaining signatures from the Mayor

    on various documents.

    Assist the City Manager with communications with employees, the public and council members. The

    individual may be called upon to assist with scheduling of meetings and special projects that require

    some research.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    Prefer 5 years experience in the public or private sector with significant public interaction.

    Intermediate skill level with computers and a solid understanding of technology, such as Zoom or Teams,

    Microsoft Word and the ability to learn basic software applications.

    Generally the work schedule is 8am to 5pm and on rare occasions some overtime may be required.

    Reliable transportation, strong customer service skills, and a solid work ethic are essential to the

    success of this position.

    High school diploma is required and some college is preferred, but not required.

    Being a productive and integral part of a team and knowing how to interact, support and professionally

    interact with fellow employees.
