Meet the Mayor

James M. Decker was elected Mayor of Stamford, Texas in May 2018. He served two terms on the Stamford City Council prior to his initial election as Mayor. He is a passionate supporter of the local economy and revitalizing rural communities.

Mayor Decker regularly shares this thoughts on community growth, revitalization, and the happenings of Stamford on his blog West of 98.

City Councilors

The Stamford City Council are community elected officials who are appointed to preserve and promote the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Stamford. The council may enact ordinances and resolutions and use its governmental powers for the public good of Stamford. These individuals, along with our Mayor (James Decker) and City Manager, provide leadership in addressing issues Stamfordites care about most.

Want to request to be on the Agenda?

Stamford City Council meets in the Council Chambers on the first and third Mondays at 5:15 p.m. on the second floor of City Hall located at 201 E. McHarg (unless the date conflicts with a federal holiday). These meetings are open to the public. If you would like to have a topic placed on the agenda, please contact the City Secretary by calling 325-773-2591.
