Business Assistance and Support
Currently and since March of 2019 the Development Corporation of Stamford has focused on and implemented a “BREP” program – Business Retention and Expansion Program. They have adopted since that time 3 Grant type programs to facilitate the program.

Small Business Grant:
This program is for existing businesses and is based on number of employees with a limit on amounts awarded. Small business is defined as 7 or fewer full time employees.

Façade Grant:
This grant is offered to existing businesses that own their building and to building owners whether they own the existing business or not.
It is limited in amounts to 75% of your expense up to $ 10,000 for the remodeling or new façade work to existing buildings.

Infrastructure Grant:
This grant that is similar to the Façade Grant, and may also be spent on the building interior, exterior whether a façade or not. It is limited to 75% of owner expense up to $ 10,000.
** (any expense by owner over the $10,000 amount is not covered by grant funds – for both Façade and Infrastructure Grants)
Does the DCOS offer business loans and lending?
The Development Corporation Board currently does not consider lending money to businesses. However, assistance in loan applications to financial institutions and private lender, is offered, along with business plan development, financial statement preparation and other information that may be required for such applications.
